Pettigrew taking over

Ravenna's Paul's store

After more than 20 years operating in Ravenna, Paul's Do-It Center will close that location by April 30.

Pettigrew Feed & Hardware is in the process of taking possession of the North Chestnut Street building.

Paul's will keep its stores in Garrettsville and Middlefield, and merchandise not sold in Ravenna by closing time will be taken to those stores.

Paul's owner Martin Paul refused to comment to the Record-Courier about the closing.

Pettigrew Feed & Hardware bought the building from the Dix family with plans to open a "destination" Tru-Value store, only the second in the nation.

Lonnie Pettigrew said he is waiting for final approval for the purchase. Neighborhood Development Services in Ravenna is providing 50 percent of the funding for the building and improvements.

Pettigrew said he looks forward to opening a store in Ravenna, and will accept applications from Paul's employees who cannot find another job.

Open house scheduled

Eagle Creek Gardens on Route 306 in Bainbridge will conducts its seventh annual open house April 19 and 20.

Eagle Creek features more than 3 acres of home decor, casual furniture and produce items.

Children's crafts will be offered both days, and seminars will focus on insect and disease control and spring home decor.

Mona Rutger from Back to the Wild will present a program on rehabilitated animals on April 20, and vendors from Scott's Co. and Belgard Pavers will be on hand.

Many open houses set

at H. Hanna locations

Homebuyers can take advantage of a special opportunity April 27, when Howard Hanna Real Estate Services conducts a record-setting 2008 open houses in one day.

In addition, one lucky participant in the company's 2008 Open House Extravaganza will win $2,008 toward closing costs on a home purchase.

The winner must purchase his or her home through a Howard Hanna sales associate, finance through Howard Hanna Mortgage, and close with Barristers Land Abstract or its affiliate.

Entries for the contest will be available at each open house location.

"We are providing an outstanding opportunity for those who are seeking a home to explore the variety of different listings that are available to them," said President Howard W. "Hoby" Hanna IV.

The company's Realtors will have at least two of their listings open for buyers on that day, maximizing the number of open houses the company typically conducts on a Sunday.
