Flushing of water lines slated April 21 - May 5 From April 21 to May 5 the city's water department will flush lines to improve carrying capacity and water quality, which will remove settled substances and discolored or stale water. Flushing will take place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Customers may experience intermittent pressure fluctuations and a temporary condition of discolored water. If discoloration occurs, customers should not allow their water to run. The iron in the water main needs time to settle. Water clarity will return. Residents should not wash whites if water is discolored. The discolored water should dissipate within one or two days, but it is safe for bathing, drinking and food preparation. City officials suggest that residents complete all laundry prior to flushing in their area. Flushing in each section will last about four hours. Customers are asked to be patient. Any special concerns can be expressed by calling the water department at 330-995-9109.
