Aurora -- Officers said an Aurora man was knocked unconscious and later was charged with assault after a fight March 13 at Aurora Commons. The APD received the call at 11:40 p.m. According to witnesses, the man who was knocked unconscious initiated the fight. Officers said the two did not know each other and the reason for the fight was unknown. The man was transported to St. Vincent's emergency center in Solon. Three days later, police said, he turned himself in after charges were filed, and was released on a signature bond. On March 18 a Nautilus Trail man reported he was being threatened by a Reminderville man. The village man was charged with menacing and was issued a summons to appear in court. Thefts, harassment March 15 -- Bobcat missing. A landscape company reported someone took a Bobcat valued at $35,000 from an excavation site in the 1200 block of South Chillicothe Road. According to police, the Bobcat was stored in a building which was locked. When workers arrived, they noticed the Bobcat was gone but there was no sign of forced entry and only certain people have access to the building. Police are investigating. There were no tracks from the Bobcat so police are not sure how it was taken away. March 15 -- Coins stolen. An Aurora man reported someone entered his house and took a coin collection valued at $11,356. Police reports show there was forced entry through the main door of the garage and a door leading to the house. Pry marks and damage were done to both of the doors' locks and frames. Police are investigating. March 17 -- Harassment. A Geauga Lake area man reported he was receiving harassing phone calls from a collection firm that was apparently trying to reach another person. Police contacted a manager of the company, who agreed to remove the Aurora man's cell phone number from its data base. March 18 -- Fraud alert. An Aurora woman reported someone tried to use her mother's personal information to obtain credit. Police advised the woman to have a fraud alert put on her mother's credit. Arrested on warrants March 12 -- A Lakewood man turned himself on a warrant from Aurora police for unauthorized use of a vehicle. He was taken to Portage County Jail. March 14 -- A Streetsboro man, stopped on North Bissell Road for not having a license plate, was arrested on an unspecified warrant from Aurora police. He also was cited for driving under suspension and not displaying a front license plate. Traffic-related cases March 13 -- Lot collision. An Aurora man told police a pizza delivery driver reported to him that he backed into his vehicle while it was parked in the pizza shop's lot. No damage estimate was given. March 14 -- Driveway crash. Police said an Aurora woman backing out of a Pine Villa Trail driveway struck a Mantua man's vehicle which was parked there. No damage estimate was given. March 15 -- Rear-end crash. A Ravenna man was cited for assured clear distance after police said he struck a Chardon woman's vehicle from behind in the 1200 block of South Chillicothe Road. March 16 -- Rear-end collision. A Mantua man was cited for assured clear distance after police said he struck a Streetsboro man's vehicle from behind in the 900 block of North Aurora Road. No one was taken to a medical facility and no damage estimate was available. March 17 -- Three-car mishap. An Aurora woman was cited for assured clear distance after police said she struck an Aurora woman's vehicle from behind, forcing it into an Aurora man's car. March 17 -- Lot crash. Police said as a Mantua woman was parking her car at Barrington Town Square, she struck another Mantua woman's car. No damage estimate was given. March 18 -- Driveway collison. Police said while a Newark man was parked in a driveway of a home, an Aurora man backed out of his garage and struck the other vehicle. No damage estimate was given. March 18 -- Three injured. Three drivers were taken to hospitals after a head-on crash on Old Mill Road. Police cited a Chagrin Falls woman for going left of center. She and a passenger were taken to Hillcrest Hospital for treatment and the other driver, a Windham man, was taken to Robinson Memorial Hospital. March 18 -- Collision. An Aurora man was cited for improper backing after he backed out of a Lloyd Avenue driveway and struck an Aurora man's vehicle. No damage estimate was given. Miscellaneous cases March 14 -- Gun found. A Centerville Trail woman turned in a replica pistol she found in her front yard. March 16 -- Purse lost. A Colorado woman reported she lost a purse containing personal ID, credit cards and an unknown amount of cash while in Aurora. March 17 -- Suspicious wires. A Dominion East Ohio Gas meter reader reported wires running from a house on Surfside Circle to the gas meter, and feared the wires were electrified and a hazard. A check by police revealed they were not. March 17 -- Dispute. Police said an adult man jumped out of his mother's car on North Chillicothe Road and ran down the street. An investigation revealed the pair had a verbal argument and the man was going to a store to call his wife. The man's wife picked him up. March 18 -- Suspicious call. A manager of a Barrington Town Square restaurant told police someone who identified himself as a police officer called to request personal information about an employee. Police said no Aurora officer had called, and no information was given. Comments
