Charges filed in pair of local domestic disputes

Aurora -- A dispute between a man and woman in the Four Seasons subdivision led to charges against both, according to police.

Officers said on March 3 they found a vehicle abandoned at Route 43 and Greenbriar Drive and a witness told them a woman had a dispute with her boyfriend, left the vehicle and ran home.

The man, who lives in Kent, was found but fled from police. He was apprehended and charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing official business. He was taken to the Portage County Jail.

The woman was charged with obstructing official business and released on bond.

Meanwhile, in a dispute the same day, a woman reported she was physically removed from a vehicle by her ex-boyfriend and another woman, who drove off and left her on Aurora-Hudson Road.

A Bedford man was charged with assault and a Hudson woman was charged with unlawful restraint, and both were to appear in Kent Municipal Court. The victim did not report any injuries.

Disputes, harassment

Feb. 28 -- Argument. Officers talked to a man and his son after responding to a reported verbal argument in Walden.

Feb. 29 -- Unwanted calls. An Aurora woman reported receiving unwanted phone calls from an ex-boyfriend. Officers tried to reach the caller, but were unsuccessful. The woman was advised to contact police if further calls were received.

March 1 -- Annoying calls. Officers advised a former employee of a business on New Hudson Road to cease making "annoying" calls to the business owner. The caller agreed to stop.

Thefts, criminal mischief

March 1 -- Mailboxes damaged. A Rock Creek Drive woman said someone damaged her mailbox. Officers also found several other mailboxes in the area had been damaged. No estimate of the loss was given.

March 2 -- Shoplifting. A juvenile was located and released to his mother after officers received a report that the youth left an Aurora Farms Premium Outlets store without paying for a $5 necklace.

March 2 -- Burglary. An Aurora man was charged with felony burglary after police said he tried to force his way into a neighbor's home in the Geauga Lake area. He was taken to the Portage County Jail.

March 4 -- Credit incident. A North Bissell Road man reported his ex-wife obtained a credit card from his account and charged about $6,000 worth of merchandise. The ex-wife told police she had requested a replacement card and it was a mistake that the card was issued on his account. She made arrangements to repay the amount owed.

Traffic-related cases

Feb. 29 -- Minor crash. Police said an Aurora woman slid on slush and ice and struck an Aurora man's car on Countrywood Trail, causing minor damage to both. No injuries were reported and no citation issued.

March 1 -- Deer struck. Officers said an Aurora man struck a deer on South Bissell Road. No damage estimate was given.

March 1 -- Deer hit. Police said a Lakemore man struck a deer on South Bissell Road. No damage estimate was given.

March 3 -- Driver warned. A Streetsboro woman was given a warning after an officer said she ignored a red light and almost caused an accident. She was referred to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for license re-examination.

March 3 -- Rear-end crash. A Ravenna man was cited for assured clear distance and driving on a suspended license after police said he struck an Aurora man's vehicle from behind on South Chillicothe Road. No damage estimate was given.

March 4 -- Driveway mishap. Police said a Deerfield man was backing out of a driveway on Robinhood Drive when he struck an Aurora woman's vehicle parked in the driveway. No damage estimate was given.

March 4 -- Failure to yield. An Aurora man was cited for failure to yield after police said he pulled out of a gas station on North Aurora Road and was struck by a Parkman woman. No damage estimate was given.

Miscellaneous cases

March 1 -- Items returned. A Streetsboro woman dropped off a black bag containing a laptop computer and several books which she found at an Aurora Commons car wash. Police contacted the owner, who came to pick up the items.

March 1 -- Wallet turned in. A wallet found at Sunny Lake park was dropped off at the police station. Officers left a message with a relative of the owner to pick it up.

March 5 -- Felon registrant. A man visited the police station to register as a felon living in the city. Police said he was convicted of robbery, theft and escape, and is on probation.
