Aurora -- Two people from Bedford and Aurora were charged Feb. 13 with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and other offenses after a traffic stop. Officers said when the vehicle was stopped for investigation of possible drunk driving, the Bedford man, who was driving, exited and the Aurora woman moved into the driver's seat. They said children were in the vehicle with the pair. The Bedford man was charged with OVI, driving under suspension, not obeying traffic control devices and child endangering, and was released on bond. The Aurora woman was charged with OVI, obstructing official business and endangering children. She was taken to the Portage County Jail, and the children were handed over to relatives. Dispute and vandalism Feb. 15 -- Domestic violence. At 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a possible domestic assault in the Geauga Lake area, but the two subjects could not be immediately located. At 7 a.m., police said when they returned to the home to see if the parties were there, an Aurora woman who was there was checked for injuries by rescue squad members and refused medical transport. An Aurora man was located and taken to the police station. He also was checked for injuries and refused medical transport. The woman was charged with domestic violence and taken to the Portage County Jail. According to the report, only the woman was charged because officers determined she was the primary aggressor. Feb. 15 -- House damaged. Officers were told a house under construction on Pine Villa Trail had been vandalized. Investigation revealed windows were broken and holes were made in the interior drywall, with damage estimated at $15,000. Thefts and warrants Feb. 15 -- Credit card fraud. An Aurora man reported someone used his personal information to make unauthorized purchases on his credit card. Feb. 16 -- Purse stolen. An employee at an Aurora Farms Premium Outlets store reported a woman stole a purse valued at $200. Feb. 17 -- Internet complaint. Police investigated an Internet fraud complaint in which a California man said he purchased a video game bundle from an Aurora man for $125 and did not receive the item. The suspect said the item was returned to him as "undeliverable." He agreed to refund the victim's money. Feb. 20 -- Warrant arrest. A Lloyd Avenue man was arrested on two unspecified warrants and was picked up by Portage County sheriff's deputies. Feb. 20 -- Nabbed on warrant. During a registration check on Lloyd Avenue, officers found an Aurora woman had a warrant from Boone County, Ky. for a felony drug offense. The woman was taken to the Portage County Jail to await extradition. Feb. 20 -- Auto sticker taken. An Aurora woman told police she was contacted by Solon police because officers found a man in possession of her stolen license plate sticker. The suspect was charged with receiving stole property. Traffic-related cases Feb. 14 -- OVI citation. A Cleveland man was cited for OVI and driving under suspension after officers said he attempted to give them false information during a traffic stop on East Boulevard. He was taken to the Portage County Jail. Feb. 15 -- Lot hit-skip. An Aurora woman parked in a Barrington Town Square lot discovered someone had struck the front of her vehicle. No damage estimate was given. Feb. 16 -- Rear-end crash. A Chagrin Falls juvenile was cited for assured clear distance after police said he struck a Mantua woman's vehicle from behind in the 800 block of North Aurora Road. No damage estimate was given. Feb. 19 -- A Ravenna woman was taken to Robinson Memorial Hospital for treatment after officers said an Aurora man struck her vehicle from behind. The latter was cited for assured clear distance. No damage estimate was given. Feb. 19 -- Lot collision. Police said an Akron man backed up and struck an Aurora woman's vehicle in an Aurora Commons parking lot. No damage estimate was given. Feb. 20 -- OVI citation. A Burton man was cited for OVI and obstructing official business after officers said he almost struck another vehicle head-on in a Barrington Town Square parking lot. The man was released on bond. Lost, found property Feb. 13 -- Phone found. An Aurora man turned in a cell phone he found at Aurora Commons. The item was being held at the police station pending being claimed by its owner. Feb. 14 -- Phone lost. The next day, an Aurora woman reported she lost a cell phone valued at $300. It turned out to be the same phone that was found at Aurora Commons the day before. Feb. 17 -- Bag returned. A Mantua man turned in a black bag he found in a snow bank at Barrington Town Square. The bag contained credit cards, business cards and personal items. The owner was contacted and claimed the bag. Comments
