AURORA MENNONITE

The church will host a community dinner Feb. 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. It is open to the public.

Dinner will include chicken parmesan, pasta, salad bar, dessert and drinnk at a cost of $8.50 for adults, $4.50 for children ages 4 to 10 and free for children 3 and younger.

Carry-outs will be available when ordered on-site. Proceeds will go toward the annual missions auction June 28. For details, call the church at 330-562-8011.

HOPE LUTHERAN

The outreach committee is planning to field a team for the 2008 Relay For Life. Dan Coleman is captain. The dates are May 31 and June 1. For details, call Coleman at 330-562-9017.

The women's Bible study will meet Feb.. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Judy Rediger's house in Streetsboro. For details, call her at 330-626-1714.

OUR LADY CATHOLIC

Ash Wednesday services are today (Feb. 6) at 9 a.m., 12:05 p.m. and 7 p.m. Stations of the Cross are offered every Friday during Lent at 7 p.m.

A pancake breakfast, with cooking by the Knights of Columbus, will be Feb. 10 after the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Masses. The menu is pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. Donations are accepted.

The youth ministry will have a lock-in Feb. 17-18. A First Eucharist meeting for parents of children who will take their first communion in the spring is Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.

Members are needed for the Sunday choir, which rehearses Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and the funeral choir, which rehearses Mondays at 10 a.m. Cantors also are needed. For details, call Barb Dzurilla at 330-562-7486.

Young and old members also are needed for the newly formed brass choir. Specifically, trumpet, trombone, tuba and French horn players are needed. For details, call Dzurilla.

A Red Cross blood drive will be Feb. 20 from 1 to 7 p.m. Sign-up sheets are located in the rear of the church for those willing to donate a pint of blood.

On Feb. 20, an initial gathering and organizational meeting is slated to see if there is interest in having a support group for children who have lost a parent. The time is 7:30 p.m. For details, contact Sister Lu Haidnick.

Feb. 10 -- religious education for grades 6-8 at 8:45 a.m., RCIA at 9:40, religious education for preschool, kindergarten and grade 1, co-op nursery and children's liturgy of the word at 10:30.

Feb. 11 -- religious education for grades K-5 at 3:15 p.m., Bible study at 7; Feb. 5 -- Adoration of the Bless Sacrament from 9:30 a.m. to 6:20 p.m., religious education for grades K-5 at 3:15 p.m. and religious education of grades K-6 at 6:30.

CHURCH IN AURORA

The 2008 offering envelopes are available on the Hunt table in the Great Hall. An Ash Wednesday service will be tonight (Feb. 6) at 7:30.

A work camp meeting for participants and parents will be Feb. 10 at 12:30 p.m. in the Escape. A kickoff meeting for the church's Relay For Life team will be Feb. 10 at 12:15 p.m. in Hanson Hall.

A special collection of underwear and socks for the Haven of Rest Ministries will be conducted Feb. 10 and 17. Church members will provide lunch for Habitat for Humanity workers Feb. 9. Food should be taken to the church by 10:30 a.m.

Church members will go to see "On Golden Pond" by Aurora Community Theatre on Feb. 16. tickets are available at $12 each. The church will host World Day of Prayer on March 7 at 10:30 a.m.

A tubing trip for youths will be Feb. 23. Cost is $13 per person. Thirty hours of famine will be observed March 8 and 9. A youth session will be Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.

The 3H Evening Group will gather Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m. to share Chapters 11 and 12 from Beth Moore's book "Believing God."

The work campers will sell 3-H Circle-made Valentine's candy Feb. 10 after both services. Women's Guild will meet Feb.. 13 to hear a talk by Phil Potter about trips to the Grand Canyon.

VALLEY PRESBYTERIAN

The annual congregational meeting will be Feb. 10 at 11:30 a.m. to elect elders and deacons, approve the budget and review reports from 2007.

Fair Trade coffee and chocolate sales will take place Feb. 17 during fellowship time. Youths 12 and under can participate in a party Feb. 24 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at American Bouncers Party Arena.

The Lydia Circle will meet Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and the Sarah Circle on Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. Youth group meetings are Sundays at 7 p.m. in the barn or the second Sunday of each month at the Weils.

A fundraiser for Heart of Valley Christian Preschool will be March 1 at 7 p.m. at the Pine Lake Trout Club. The event features a wine tasting social and silent auction.

LORD OF LIFE LUTHERAN

Imposition of ashes and Holy Communion will be observed today (Feb. 6) at noon and 7:30 p.m. The church will host the first in a series of Lenten soup suppers/services Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m.

Snow camp for middle schoolers will be Feb. 8 to 10. A regular Fly gathering is Feb. 20, and a Fly Friday night will be Feb. 29 at 6:30 p.m. to go tobogganing in the Brecksville Metropark.

A parents meeting for those in the First Communion program will be Feb. 10 at 9:30 a.m. Various events, including a retreat March 7-8 at Camp Mowana, will lead up to Fist Communion on March 9 at the 11 a.m. service.

KidSpiration leaders are needed. The program is designed for children ages 3 to 8 and meets Sundays at 11 a.m. For details, call Nanci Keim at 440-338-3779.

A church game night will be Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m. Snacks and desserts will be shared by the participants. A reverse raffle and silent auction will take place in April to aid a Biloxi, Miss., building project.

The annual chili cookoff will be Feb. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are available after services Feb. 10 and 17 for $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 3 to 12.

UNITED METHODIST

An Ash Wednesday service will be tonight (Feb. 6) at 7. All local citizens are invited to receive ashes from noon to 2 p.m.

Logos Wednesdays will take place during the Lenten season from Feb. 13 to March 12. Logos is Greek for "word." Evenings will start at 6 with a potluck supper, and activities will be offered from 6:30 to 7:30.

Boy Scouts will be honored Feb. 10 at the 10:30 a.m. service. Boy Scouts and their parents can turn out for a special service.

LAKEVIEW CHAPEL

The message at the Feb. 10 service (10:45 a.m.) will be "The Ideal Wife," the first in a four-week series called "Ideal Relationships."

Nursery and children's church are available during the service for infants through fifth-graders. Classes for ages 3 to adult start at 9:30 a.m.

Lakeview hosts a Bible study for men Thursdays at 7:30 a.m. at Starbucks. Activities for adults and children are provided Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m.

A couple evening out will be March 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. Participants will play "The Newlywed Game." There is no charge. Each couple should take a favorite dessert to share. The church can be contacted at 330-562-3438. Its Web site is www.lakeviewchapelaurora.org.
