Aurora -- The high value of metal may have contributed to the theft of copper pipe from a vacant home on North Chillicothe Road. Officers reported they checked out the scene Jan. 27 and found entry apparently was gained through a broken window. The copper pipe was valued at $800. Meanwhile, the drivers of two vehicles involved in a Jan. 23 collision in the 200 block of North Chillicothe Road were taken to area medical facilities for treatment. Police said an Aurora man heading south on Route 306 skidded and crossed the centerline, striking an Aurora woman's northbound vehicle. The man was cited for failure to control and was taken to Solon Emergency Center by the Aurora rescue squad, while the woman was taken to Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. No damage estimates were reported. Dispute, harassment Jan. 23 -- Student harassed. Police were investigating a complaint that an Aurora High School student was being harassed by another student. Jan. 24 -- Argument. Officers checked out a report of a "heated argument" on the northwest side of town. Both parties were warned to stay away from each other for the remainder of the evening. Jan. 26 -- Threatening calls. A Geauga Lake area woman reported she is receiving unwanted nuisance and threatening calls from an Aurora man. Police said she did not wish to press charges, but wanted the incidents documented. Jan. 28 -- Harassment. An Aurora woman reported she was being harassed by an ex-boyfriend. Officers contacted the man and told him not to have further contact with the woman or her family. Police said the man said he would comply. Animal incidents Jan. 27 -- Dog attack. An Aurora woman reported her dog was attacked by another dog. Police said the dog owners agreed to discuss the veterinary bill. Jan. 28 -- Dog trapped. A resident in the 800 block of West Garfield Road reported his dog was caught in a trap placed on his property without his knowledge. Officers said a neighbor apparently had given someone permission to place the traps on his property. The Portage County wildlife officer was contacted for further investigation. The black lab was not injured. Traffic-related cases Jan. 23 -- Rear-end crash. An Aurora woman was cited for assured clear distance after police said she struck a Gates Mills man's vehicle from behind in the 200 block of North Chillicothe Road. No damage estimate was given. Jan. 25 -- Rear-end crash. A Canal Fulton man was cited for assured clear distance after police said he struck an Independence man's vehicle from behind in the 900 block of South Chillicothe Road. No damage estimate was given. Miscellanous cases Jan. 27 -- Ammo turned in. An Aurora man dropped off a bucket full of old ammunition at the police station for disposal. Jan. 28 -- Warrant arrest. An Aurora man was arrested on an unspecified warrant from Aurora police. He was taken to the Portage County Jail. Comments
