CHURCH IN AURORA Offering envelopes for 2008 are available on the card table in the Great Hall. Circle D will not meet in January. The Women's Guild will meet today (Jan. 9) at 11:30 a.m. for its annual soup and salad lunch. Cost is $4 each. The Rev. Kevin Horak will speak about his extensive Ward's and Sears catalog collection. The Nutcracker Sweets organizational meeting will be tonight (Dec. 9) at 7. Anyone interested in making the arts/crafts festival a reality is welcome to attend. Orders are being taken on Sundays in January for the workcampers' sub sandwich sale. Sandwiches will be available on Super Bowl Sunday. The 3H Evening Group will meet Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Stephen Ministry Room to work on afghans and prayer shawls. Chapters 9 and 10 of Beth Moore's book "Believing God" will be discussed. A memorial service for Bob Albright will be Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. A counting committee meeting will be Jan. 20 at 12:15 a.m. Fifteen shopping bags of food and three bags of stuffed animals were collected for needy families by the fifth- and sixth-grade girls and boys church school classes. PARKSIDE CHURCH The Women's Essence Ministry will present the "Hearth and Home" series Jan. 12, 19 and 26 from 9 to 11 a.m. The areas to be covered are cooking, fashion and decorating. Refreshments will be available, and all women are welcome. The Journeymen's Men's Ministry will present a series of topical talks titled "Sex, Money, Power" Jan. 14 and 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. Cost is $5 at the door. Refreshments will be provided and all men are welcome. Single Moms will begin its winter-spring session Feb. 7 and will meet each Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 224. LORD OF LIFE LUTHERAN The church will participate in the Chagrin Valley Council of Churches' pulpit exchange Jan. 20. The Rev. Rob Henderson will go to Federated Church and the Rev. Hamilton Throckmorton will visit LOL. It will be part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity from Jan. 18 to 25. LOL's theater group will visit Chagrin Valley Little Theatre on Jan. 25 to see "Laughing Stock." The group plans to meet at Cowboy Food & Drink before the show and Arabica in Bainbridge afterward. Seventh- and eighth-graders will gather Jan. 9, 23 and 30 to study the 10 commandments and baptism. Snow camp will be Feb. 8 to 10 in New York. Cost is $105, and registration forms are available in the office. The church's annual meeting will be Jan. 27 at 9:30 a.m. to examine plans for 2008, elect council members and approve the budget. KOL CHADASH Dan Nichols, a popular Jewish musician, will lead a song session-concert following a short Shabbat service Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the congregation at 6545 SOM Center Road in Solon. It is free and open to the community. UNITED METHODIST Sunday school is offered at 9:15 a.m., and worship begins at 10:30.
