HELEN C. DUTCHKO Lived to be 102 years old Mass of Christian burial was Dec. 15 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Aurora for Helen C. Dutchko, 102 1/2, who died Dec. 12 at Anna Maria of Aurora. Born June 21, 1905 in Filbert, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Rebovich) Cheselka. A resident of Aurora for more than 70 years, she retired from Perfection Stove in Cleveland after 40 years of service as a printer. She was a member of OLPH, and enjoyed baking, crocheting and gardening. Survivors include her brother Nicholas Cheselka of Solon; sisters Theresa Cheselka of Aurora and Mary Fiorilli and Irene Wolosz of Arizona; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The Rev. Joseph Witmer officiated at the funeral. Burial was in Aurora Cemetery. Green Funeral Home in Mantua handled arrangements. CAROL ANN RUGGIE Active in Rotary Club Services were Dec. 17 at the Federated Church in Chagrin Falls for Carol Ann Conley Ruggie, who died Dec. 13 after a 14-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was well-known for her dedication to helping the world's poor children through Sparrow Village and Rotary International. She was president of the Aurora Rotary Club in 2006-07 and devoted her last 2 1/2 years to Modeling Future Heroes, an organization, book and curriculum designed for training youths in values and leadership. Survivors include her children Jennifer Morrison and Brian Conley; daughter-in-law Shannon Conley; brothers rent and Robert Hepner; sister Patricia Kato; and five grandchildren. Donations cans be made to Sparrow Village (South Africa), the Street Children of Tanzania or Children of the Dump (Nicaragua). HELEN ELVIRA ELLIS Longtime local resident Services were Oct. 5 at the chapel in Crown Hill Cemetery for Helen Elvira Ellis, 79, who died Sept. 30. Born Sept. 25, 1928 in Baltic, Mich., she was the youngest of seven children. She lived in Fairport, married Herbert Ellis in 1950 and the couple moved to Aurora with their three children in 1964, living here until their deaths. Survivors include daughter Diane; son David; daughters-in-law Leigh and Grace; and seven grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her eldest son, Herb. Another obituary -- Page 32 Comments
