LUCILE HAGENBUCH

Active in many groups

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Aurora for Lucile Hagenbuch, 85, of Aurora, who died Aug. 11.

She had just returned from a two-week vacation at Bethany Beach, Del. with her family.

Born and reared in New York City, she and her husband, the late Howard Hagenbuch, relocated to Aurora from Philadelphia in 1967.

She was involved in many community activities, includ-ing Aurora Community Theatre, Friends of the Library, Aurora Study Club and Aurora Garden Club.

She also was active in the band and choir boosters during the 1970s and 1980s when her children were in school, and was president of the Aurora Music Organization for many years.

She volunteered in classrooms and tutored students, and in 2002 she and her husband were honored by the Aurora Schools Foundation as Friends of the Schools.

She taught CCD, co-chaired the Altar and Rosary Society and helped arrange funeral lunches at Our Lady Church for many years, and served as a eucharistic minister.

Mr. Hagenbuch died in October 2006. The couple was married for 59 years.

Mrs. Hagenbuch is survived by children Lucy Simm (Forrest, deceased) of Cleveland Heights, Sally (Jim) DeMartini of Bath, Maine, Mary (Doug) Johnson of Twinsburg, Pat Thomas of Downington, Pa., Meg (Ed Smith) Hagenbuch of Ardmore, Pa., Lloyd of Cuyahoga Falls, Liz (Paul) O'Neil of Chagrin Falls, Katie (John) Monroe of Aurora and Lyn (Greg) Best of Aurora.

Also surviving are 23 grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lucy Carroll; and a sister, Minette.

The family will receive friends Aug. 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Johnson-Romito Fun-eral Home at Route 91 and Post Road in Twinsburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Aurora Community Theater, Box 9, Aurora 44202 or the Aurora Schools Foundation, Box 643, Aurora 44202.

ELIZABETH R. SUCHER

Former Aurora resident

A memorial service will be Aug. 17 at First Presbyterian Church in Sanford, N.C., for Elizabeth R. "Bette" Sucher, 89, who died Aug. 8 in Carolina Trace, N.C.

Born Dec. 2, 1917 in Montrose, Pa., she went to school in Cleveland and married Glen Sucher in 1941. After living in the Cleveland area, including Aurora, and managing the finances of a corporation for many years, Mrs. Sucher and her husband moved to Carolina Trace in 1980.

She initially worked at Cross & Brinn selling real estate and then became a broker for Carolina Trace Gated Properties LLC, where she remained for 23 years.

She continued to work with her customers until one week before her death.

Survivors include sons Glenn Kenneth Sucher of Miami Lakes, Fla., and Curtis John Sucher of Orlando, Fla.; daughter Karen Elizabeth Singmaster of Durango, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers Robert Roach of Lock Haven, Pa., and Richard Roach of Southbury, Conn.; and sister Francis Mihalek of Bay Village.

A celebration of life period will follow the memorial service at Carolina Trace Country club. Contributions can be made to the Temple Theater, First Presbyterian Church or a charity of choice.
