Aurora residents are reminded that volunteers will be canvassing neighborhoods on April 29 to pick up food for the Fill a Bag, Feed a Family campaign.
Bags were left on residents' porches and doorsteps April 22. Residents are asked to place some nonperishable food items in the bags prior to April 29, when the bags will be picked up.
The items will be sorted at and stored at the Aurora Baseball League's warehouse in the city's southern industrial zone, and will be available for those in need at the Volunteers of America food pantry.
John and Katie Monroe are co-chairing the Fill a Bag, Feed a Family effort.
Now in its third year, Fill a Bag, Feed a Family, founded by Bruce Harris, is a communitywide effort to take the pinch out of food shortages during the summer months. John said many churches, families and organizations team up for the effort.

Boy Scout Troops 265 and 269 and Cub Scout Troop 3269 also are conducting a food and nonperishables drive for the Aurora Food Pantry.
On April 29, the Scouts will accept donations at Walmart in the Marketplace at Four Corners on Route 43. Volunteers will ask shoppers to make a purchase and donate it to the pantry.
