Aurora Police Reports-March 8

Police Reports is a sampling of incidents responded to by the Aurora Police Department. It is not intended to be all-inclusive.

 

Disorderly conduct: A Garfield Heights man was charged with disorderly conduct Feb. 24 after police said he grabbed the steering wheel of a moving vehicle and shifted into park while traveling on an Aurora street. The vehicle went into a parking lot and the defendant allegedly became physical with the driver and other passengers. No injuries were reported. The defendant was taken to the Portage County Jail.

 

Identity thefts: A Crackel Road man reported Feb. 17 that someone took a loan out in his name for the amount of $640.

After receiving delinquent payment notices, a Hurd Road woman reported Feb. 24 that an unknown person ordered magazine subscriptions in her children's names.

 

Documents missing: Officers checked out a report from a Moneta Avenue resident, who said her tax documents were missing. She was advised to get a credit report and watch for any unauthorized use of her personal information.

 

Warrant pickups: Cleveland police turned over a Euclid man to Aurora officers on a warrant for receiving stolen property, identity theft and theft. He was taken to the Portage County Jail.

A Solon man was transferred from Solon police custody to Aurora on a warrant for failing to appear in court. He was taken to the Portage County Jail.

 

Abetting: A Twinsburg man was charged Feb. 22 with offenses involving an underage person for allegedly furnishing alcohol to an Aurora male under age 21. The Aurora male also was charged with underage alcohol consumption.

 

Theft: A business on South Chillicothe Road reported Feb. 27 that a man took merchandise from the store and walked out without paying. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. No value of the items taken was given.

 

TRAFFIC-RELATED CASES

 

Lot crash: Police reported Feb. 25 at 4:10 p.m. that a Sandusky woman's vehicle was struck by an unknown person in the Aurora Commons parking lot. The offender left the scene in a green sedan. A witness provided a partial license plate number, but it turned out to be inaccurate.

 

Rear-end crashes: An Aurora woman was cited for assured clear distance Feb. 20 at 9 a.m. after police said she struck a Twinsburg man's vehicle from behind on Moneta Avenue. No injuries were reported.

A Garrettsville woman was cited for assured clear distance Feb. 22 at 1:15 p.m. after police said she struck a Brecksville man's vehicle from behind on West Garfield Road. No injuries were reported.

 

Failure to yield: A Windham woman was cited for failing to yield Feb. 24 at 11:55 a.m. after police said she was northbound on Page Road and turned left onto Lena Road, striking a southbound car driven by a Streetsboro man. No injuries were reported.

A Maple Heights man was cited for failing to yield Feb. 25 at 4:50 p.m. after police said turned left out of the Walgreens parking lot onto Route 43 and struck a northbound Fairlawn woman's vehicle, which reportedly was stopped when the crash occurred. No injuries were reported.
