The following actions were taken by Aurora City Council at its Jan. 23 meeting:
City of Aurora's annual budget and appropriations for 2017 as submitted by Mayor Ann Womer Benjamin (Amended by appropriating an additonal $100,000 from Fund 52 and $100,000 from Fund 60 for the Hartman athletic complex project).
Confirm the mayor's appointment of Thomas Shrout to the city's architectural board of revidw through Dec. 31, 2020.
Moratorium not to exceed 90 days on the issuance and processing of any permits allowing electronic display signs within the city.
Changes in compensation for city workers (annual increases for all).
Amendment to the contract for the law director to reflect a 2 percent increase in the base salary.
Changes in compensation for city workers Chittick, Grecol, McBirney and White.
Purchase of a Cot Loading System from Stryker EMS Equipment ($26,282) for the fire department with funds coming from the fire/paramedic levy. The system will be installed in the new ambulance which is on order.
Agreement with Hawthorn of Aurora and Constan Development Co. for the dedication of a portion of Aurora Lake Road.

Amendment to Section 935.01 "Exemption Level" of the city ordinances.
Final plat for Hawthorn of Aurora Phase 5 on the south side of Aurora Lake Road and west of Route 43 in a planned development zoning district.
Amendment to Section 1159.03(a)(3) "Enforcement" of the city ordinances which deals with the review process for any variance granted for a sign within 250 feet of a designated historic district or T-1 zoned district.
Amendment to Section 1159.04(e) "General Requirements-Electronic Display signs" of the city ordinances dealing with permitted areas for electronic display signs.
