Girl Scouts of North East Ohio hosting annual 'Dessert First' gala benefit

The sweetest benefit, Dessert First, supporting the 40,000 girls and adult members of Girl Scouts of North East Ohio is slated for Oct. 22 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Embassy Suites, Cleveland-Rockside in Independence. The gala will challenge regional chefs to create desserts featuring famous Girl Scout Cookies. The desserts will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges as well as guests. The dessert tasting will be followed by an elegant dinner, and silent and live auctions.

A panel of celebrity judges comprised of members of the media will sample each dessert and judge on Presentation, Creativity and Taste. Judges include:

The event, which is the Girls Scouts’ signature fundraiser, will support leadership development and character building programs across 18 counties of Northeast Ohio.
Sara Shookman, a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient and Alumnae and anchor at WKYC Channel 3 News will serve as the evening’s emcee.
Guests may bid on over 65 featured silent auction items and experiences. A live auction offer priceless experiences including an exclusive stay at the Union Club Cleveland and a Disney vacation. The Fund a Need Campaign will also be part of the evening’s festivities.
