Residents concerned about the opioid and heroin crisis in Portage County are invited to join county officials and mental health professionals at the conference “Raising Awareness & Addressing the Opioid Epidemic in Portage County.”
The free event will be Oct. 13 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Center Ballroom at Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown. It is being hosted by the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Portage County and Portage County Health District and sponsored by NEOMED.
Representatives from the Ohio attorney general’s office will speak on the opiate epidemic throughout the state and on human trafficking.
Other topics will cover use of suboxone for treating individuals with opioid addiction, the community health improvement plan in regard to substance abuse, a facilitated discussion and results from the community health assessment.
