Aurora superintendent looking forward to new school year

Aurora -- Pat Ciccantelli is looking forward to his second full year year as superintendent of the local school district as students return to the classrooms Aug. 17.

"I would like to share with our students and parents that we are excited for a new school year," he said.

"I would like to thank our maintenance, custodial and secretarial staffs for all their hard work this summer to make sure everything is ready for the return of students and staff.

"Our teachers have worked hard, as well, on their curriculum and instructional strategies to prepare for the new year.

"As I head into my second year as superintendent, I am very excited and thankful to work in a community that has such a strong support for the schools and in a district with a faculty and staff that are so dedicated to their students and their profession," he added.

"We are excited to see the students return and to reconnect with our families to work together to help our students continue to learn and grow."

Ciccantelli said a list of new employees includes: In the district -- Jim Miller, HVAC maintenance; and Stephanie DeMichele, technology integration (PK-8).

At Aurora High -- Evan Karnoupakis, math; and Linda Bennett, health instructional aide;at Harmon -- Kelly Becker, custodian.

At Craddock -- Laurie Kidwell, math tutor; and Cheryl Steele, health instructional aide; at Miller -- Elizabeth Schaefer, pre-school teacher; and Merry Hinderschied, cafeteria.
