Cleveland media outlets are reporting that former U.S. Rep. Steve LaTourette died Wednesday of pancreatic cancer.

LaTourette, a Republican, represented Ohio's 19th Congressional District and later Ohio's 14th Congressional District, which included the northern portion of Portage County, from 1995 to 2013, when he retired.

Several of his former colleagues took to social media to express their condolences.

Sen. Rob Portman, a Republican, said he and his wife, Jane, were "deeply saddened" to learn of LaTourette's death. "He'll be missed," he tweeted.

U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, a Democrat, called LaTourette "a dear friend. Andrea & I extend our deepest sympathies to his amazing wife Jennifer & his children," he tweeted.
