Aurora -- Students at three schools saw new faces in administrative positions on the first day of school Aug. 21. Two administrators -- Julie Troman and Michael Janatovich -- are new to the district, while one -- Paul Goodwin -- has been in the district a few years in another capacity.
Troman is principal at Craddock School, Janatovich is assistant principal at Harmon, and Goodman is principal at Leighton.
Patty Minrovic, who has been principal at Miller and Craddock for several years, continues as principal at Miller and also is helping out at Craddock and Leighton. She will retire at the end of this school year, and Troman will take over as principal at Miller and Craddock.
Goodwin replaces the retired Dana Lambacher, who was Leighton principal for four years.
Troman said she's grateful to be on board, "and it feels like an incredibly good fit. This will be an incredible year and new journey. I feel extremely supported by everyone in the community and the district."
Troman is a graduate of Kent State University, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education (summa cum laude) and a master's degree in educational administration.
She most recently was principal at Holden Elementary School in Kent (five years), and was a middle school assistant principal for four years.
"SHE WILL BE a wonderful fit with our staff, and her passion for supporting students is a huge asset," said Superintendent Russ Bennett when Troman was appointed to the Craddock post in May.
Goodwin has been with the Aurora schools since the 2005-06 school year, "and is more than capable of continuing our academic strategies," Bennett said in March, when Goodwin's appointment was made.
Goodwin has been an educator for more than 25 years, including assistant to the superintendent in Chagrin Falls, high school principal in Chardon, assistant principal in Solon and Chagrin Falls, and interim principal in three of the five school buildings in Chagrin Falls.
He began working in Aurora schools as assistant principal at the high school in 2006 and was assistant principal at Harmon for the last six years.
When Goodman was appointed in March, School Board President Gerald Kohanski called him "a veteran educator who has had a major impact as an administrator" at both the high school and middle school ... We are very fortunate to have him on our administrative team."
Janatovich most recently served as assistant principal at Cuyahoga Heights High School and Middle School, and served as athletic director.
He spent eight years as a middle school science and social studies teachers, and one year in Parma as an eighth-grade social studies theater.
