Aurora -- Projects for which building permits were granted in the city during November were valued at $1.76 million, according to the planning-zoning-building department.
Of that total, $20,000 was for interior alterations at Snap Fitness, the only commercial project which received a building permit.
Permits also were issued for five single-family homes (57 for the first 11 months of the 2013), one condominium unit, seven alterations and one each utility building, inground pool and "other."
Sixteen licenses were granted, including 11 for general work, three for electrical and one each for heating-air conditioning and plumbing.
Department revenue included $10,149 for building permits, $1,600 for licenses, $868 for miscellaneous, $5,250 from impact fees, $104 from state fees, $4,650 for completion deposits and $30,000 for topography deposits for a total of $52,622.
City employees performed 247 residential and 67 commercial-industrial inspections.
Police Chief Seth Riewaldt reported 17 Part I -- the most serious -- crimes occurred in November, including 14 thefts and three burglaries.
Other incidents included disorderly conduct (seven), fraud-identity theft (four), missing persons and vandalism-criminal mischief (two each) and domestic violence (one).
Officers filed 70 reports, handled 73 traffic-related duties and 70 criminal type calls and performed 1,789 other services. Dispatchers handled 2,399 matters.
Officers also checked out 30 traffic accidents, including one fatality and one injury accident. Three vehicle-deer mishaps were reported.
Twenty-six adults were arrested for criminal activity, while 49 adults were cited for traffic offenses. Speeding was the No. 1 reason for citations (16 tickets issued). Officers made 432 traffic stops.
FOUR YOUTHS were deemed to be unruly and three were cited for traffic violations, with all seven cases referred to juvenile court.
Personnel logged 22,238 miles on police vehicles, bringing the 11-month total for 2013 to 204,693, compared to 192,740 last year.
Fire Chief David Barnes reported crews responded to 28 fire alarms and 126 rescue calls in November, and made five fire prevention inspections. No fire loss was reported.
Sudden illness was the main cause of rescue calls (22 incidents), followed by lift assists (17), accidental injury (15)chest pain (nine) and weakness/dizziness (seven).
Forty-eight trips were made to Cleveland Clinic-Twinsburg, 11 each to Hillcrest, Robinson Memorial and Ahuja Medical Center, two to University Hospitals-Twinsburg and one to Marymount. Transport was not necessary in 40 instances.
During fire prevention inspections, hazards discovered included exit signs not illuminated, exit signs backup power not functional, emergency lighting not functional, too few exit signs, exits and aisles blocked, improper locks on exit doors, damaged electrical plates, exposed wiring and too many extension cords in a socket.
Meanwhile, the city's service department reports that cemetery receipts totaled $1,865 in November, including $1,187 from sales of lots, $395 for perpetual care and $283 for foundations.
Water and sewer permits revenue was $68,830. The highest amount -- $33,923 -- came from Hawthorn of Aurora, while $22,615 came from Yorkshire Estates, $12,182 from Homestead and $110 from individuals.
Contractors picked up 454 tons of trash and 109 tons of recyclables in November, an 81 percent to 19 percent ratio. For the first 11 months of 2013, 85 ink cartridges were collected and 985 pounds of electronics gear were collected.
