Flu shot clinics slated by Portage health agency

Because of increased flu-related illnesses and hospitalizations, the Portage County Health Department will be holding two additional flu clinics on Wednesday (Jan 22) and Thursday. (Jan 23)
Both clinics will be from 2 to 6 p.m. at the health department, second floor, 705 Oakwood St., Ravenna.
The health department advises that the flu vaccine should be taken by anyone six months and older who hasn’t already received a flu shot for the 2013-2014 flu season, especially pregnant women, people with chronic medical conditions, children younger than 5 years of age.
All clinics are walk-in, no appointment necessary. Cost is $10 for children and $20 for adults. Medicaid, Buckeye, Care Source, United Health, Medicare Part B (as primary insurance), Medical Mutual, Aetna, and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield are accepted.
High Dose flu vaccine is available for adults 65 years and older for $45. Medicare Part B as primary insurance is accepted.
