Winter programs will kick off soon at Aurora Library


The Aurora Memorial Library will offer winter storytimes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Registration begins Jan. 6 and programs start the week of Jan. 27.

Storytime sessions include Tiny Tot Read & Play for infants to 2 ½-year-olds on Mondays at 11:15 a.m. in the downstairs gallery. This program is designed for very young children accompanied by a parent or caregiver. It features short stories, songs and fingerplays, followed by an unstructured play time.

Toddler storytimes for children 2 ½ to 3 ½ will meet Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and preschool sessions for children 3 ½ to 5 will be Tuesdays at 11:15 a.m. Children accompanied by a parent or caregiver are welcome. Each program will feature stories, songs, fingerplays and a craft.

Signups for programs is required, and patrons can call or visit the library to sign up starting Jan. 6. More information about these and other library programs is available at or by calling the Aurora branch at 330-562-6502.

The library also will offer a monthly Parent and Child Book Club, open to a caring adult and child ages 8 to 12 starting Jan. 18 at 2 p.m.

Participants will discuss the juvenile chapter book "The Secret School" by best-selling author Avi, about a girdetermined to overcome societal expectations of girls in the mid-1920's. Copies are available at the checkout desk.

Subsequent dates are Feb. 15, when "Shiloh" by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor will be discussed; March 8 and April 19.
