The Aurora One Fund has kicked off its 2013 fundraising campaign, as 11,000 pledge cards were assembled for mailing recently.
Joe and Lynn Pacuitt, proprietors of the Aurora Children’s Early Learning Center in Aurora allowed the One Fund to use their facilities to stuff the 11,000 pledge cards into envelopes for mailing.
About 75 Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and friends of the One Fund assembled to stuff the cards. The group completed the task in 2 1/2 hours.
The One Fund drive will begin a week earlier this year. Officials estimate that residents will receive their envelopes about Aug. 27. The early start will give the fund more time to reach its $66,000 goal, according to Executive Director Joe Kotlin.
The One Fund is a local community fund managed by a group of public-spirited citizens who are volunteers. There are no paid executives. The One Fund has less than a 2 percent administration cost, which covers filing fees, postage and card printing costs.
