Recently, Aurora resident Amy McDougald filed petitions with the Portage County Board of Elections to run for City Council at large. Former Mayor Lynn McGill previously had filed to seek the seat now held by Joe Kastelic.

McDougald, who briefly served as Ward 6 Council rep after the resignation of Tom Dreher and before Harold Hatridge was elected in 2011, has served as state Rep. Matt Lynch's Portage County director since December 2011. She also worked as a field director for presidential candidate Mitt Romney for both Portage and Geauga counties.

McDougald has been a small business owner for the past 12 years. She and her husband, Steve, have been married for 25 years and have three children. The family has lived in Aurora since 1997.
