Record Publishing Co. staffers honored by Ohio Newspaper Association

Several staffers from Record Publishing Co.'s weekly papers were winners in the 2013 Osman Hooper Newspaper contest, sponsored by the Ohio Newspaper Association.

RPC winners, announced Feb. 14 at the 2013 Ohio Newspaper Association Convention in Columbus, were:

• The Hudson Hub-Times won first place in the Division A News Coverage category, and third place in the Division A Design category.

• Hudson Hub-Times editor Bill Hammerstrom and reporters Tim Troglen, Laura Freeman and Dorothy Markulis won fourth place overall in the Community Awareness category for their stories and coverage in the Hudson Hub-Times of school-related topics.

• Reporter Tim Troglen won first place in the Division A Original Columns category for his column "Smoke Signals" in the Hudson Hub-Times.

• Associate sports editor Frank Aceto won third place in the Division A Sports Coverage category for his work in the Hudson Hub-Times and first place in the Division C Sports Coverage category for his work in the Tallmadge Express.

• Reporter Jeremy Nobile won second place in the Division C Best Local Feature category for the Tallmadge Express.

• Reporter Laura Freeman won second place in the Division A Best News Photo category for the Cuyahoga Falls News-Press.

The ONA weekly newspaper committee, which organizes the annual competition, includes representatives from several Ohio publications, including RPC executive editor Erica Peterson.
