Safe Routes to School program to be explained Feb. 5

A public meeting which will provide information about the new Safe Routes to School program at Aurora's elementary and middle schools will take place Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. in the Board of Education offices on East Garfield Road.

Those attending will have a chance to review the draft school travel plan, provide feedback and learn more about the program.

The goals of the Safe Routes to School program are:

(1) To improve the environment around the school to encourage bicycling and walking.

(2) To expand the school's curriculum and activities to include safety and education programs relating to pedestrian and bicycling safety.

(3) To hold eents to encourage bicycling and walking.
