Residents can help Peters raise goal of $6,500-plus, follow trek on blog

As she raises money for the American Lung Association, 2000 Aurora High School graduate Olivia Peters said she hopes to exceed $6,500, which is the minimum number set by the American Lung Association.

People can donate online at http://tinyurl.com/OliviasBigRide, or search for her at www.bigride.org, where she is listed among the top fundraisers.

She said one in 10 Americans, including children, suffer from chronic lung disease, while lung disease, including lung cancer, asthma and emphysema, is the third leading cause of death in the U.S.

"Over the next six months, I will attempt to complete a fundraising pyramid of donations, and am counting on individuals to give as much as their budget allows," she said. "Each donor will be recognized by name on my donor pyramid.

"In addition, any donor who can muster up over $100 can expect to receive at least two postcards from the road. Anyone who helps me fill my $250 [and up] slots can expect something darn special from the road… items to be determined. It would be amazing if this article inspires people to donate to what is a very, very worthy cause."

People can follow her blog at OliviasBigRide.wordpress.com, which is not live yet. If people would like to get in touch with her, they can email her at olivia.n.peters@gmail.com.
