Plane makes emergency landing in Aurora field

A small, fixed-wing aircraft made an emergency landing on Wednesday at around 9:20 p.

m. along Route 43 near Eaton Corp. in Aurora.

According to the Aurora Police Department, the male pilot was flying a Silver Hummel H15 single engine airplane at 3,000 feet when the engine lost power.

The man was able to located a small field on South Chillicothe Road and successfully made an emergency landing.



Aurora PD said the man was not injured.

He contacted Cleveland Hopkins Airport of the situation then called police himself.

He had departed from Geneva, Ohio and was flying without issue until the engine failed.



Officers searched the aircraft and the local area for debris and damage, but nothing was located.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was also notified of the incident.
