COLUMBUS -- The Ohio Highway Patrol will welcome comments from community members in an upcoming public call-in session at 4:30 p.m. March 29 in the Shipley Building Atrium, 1970 W. Broad St., Columbus.

Parking is available for free in the lot adjacent to the Shipley Building.

The session will address the highway patrol's ability to comply with re-accreditation standards set by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, or CALEA. This is the ninth re-accreditation application for the highway patrol, and is required every three years.

For those unable to attend in person, the assessment team will be available from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 866-931-6448. Telephone comments are toll-free. They are generally limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency's ability to comply with CALEA standards, which can be accessed at www.calea.org.

Anyone wishing to submit written comments may send them to CALEA, 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320, Gainesville, VA 20155.

The assessment team from CALEA will also conduct an on-site examination of all aspects of the Patrol's policies, procedures, management, operations and support services from March 27 to March 30.
