Children's Concert Society, beginning its 69th year of providing live quality performing arts experiences, recently announced two concerts aimed at students in grades kindergarten through eighth. The concerts will be performed at the Akron Civic Theatre.

The University of Akron Steel Drum Band will perform for students in fourth through eighth grades on Oct. 12 and 13. This concert will feature the musical art form of Trinidad and will include guest artist Liam Teague of Trinidad.

Nightingale Opera Theatre will perform an interesting twist of the classic "Hansel and Gretel" for students in kindergarten through third on April 26 and 27.

These concerts are open to all public schools throughout Summit County and beyond as well as private, parochial, and home schoolers.

Senior citizens from area senior facilities also have the opportunity to attend.

Additionally, CCS offers 16 ensembles in areas of music, dance, and cultural diversity which will come to schools at no cost and perform for the student body.
