The flu sidelined Jill Scott from performing a sold out Playhouse Square show last December. Now the three-time GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter and award-winning actress will finally make her first in-concert stop at Playhouse Square August 4 at 8 pm in the State Theatre. Scott brings her catalog of hits and amazing vocal range and blends of musical genres that critics have labeled "neo soul." (Jill was also performed with Aretha Franklin on VH1's Divas and starred in the TV series The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency as well as several films, including the 2008 re-make of Steel Magnolias.)
A music icon, an unending world activist, an unselfish artist who introduced Bob Dylan to the world and focused awareness on the music of Woody Guthrie, Kris Kristofferson, Phil Ochs and others/Joan Baez. Synonymous with American music, Joan brings the celebration of her 50-plus-year career for an intimate evening Oct. 19 at 8 p.m. in Playhouse Square's State Theatre. She will showcase hits like "Diamonds & Rust," "Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," "Jesse" and "Please Come To Boston" as well as her new songs.
