To kick off the 2014-15 production year, Stow Players in inviting anyone interested in the group and its productions to a wine and cheese open house on Sept. 7, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Heritage Barn, 5238 Young Road, the back entrance to Silver Springs Park. Many current members, actors, directors, Board members and others will be there to discuss the onstage, backstage, and backstage workings of one of the area's oldest community theaters. Directors for the upcoming season will also be in attendance and will answer questions about their productions. Season tickets will be available, and club memberships can be obtained, too.
A special addition to this year's Wine and Cheese Open House will be a performance of the 2014 First Place winner of the Weathervane Playhouse 8x10 Play Festival, "Telegram in a World of Smartphones," directed by Stow Players Bill Morgan and Pat Robertell-Hudson and written by Stow resident Brandi Eaton. The performance starts at 3 p.m.
