Photographers needed for Akron's Gay Games

Published:

Akron Area Arts Alliance-Summit Artspace has been awarded a grant through the Gay Community Endowment Fund of the Akron Community Foundation for an Artist-in-Residence project for this summer's 9th Gay Games in taking place in northeast Ohio. The grant will fund selected photographers to take portraits for a real-time on-line exhibition on the web-site of the Akron Area Arts Alliance and linked to social-media platforms connected with GG9.

The project, Pride In The Moment is a community-outreach project of Summit Artspace OFFSite for artist residencies to take place during this summer's Gay Games from Aug. 8 to Aug. 16 during selected events. Pride In The Moment will create an on-line exhibition in real-time from photo-booths or trucks located on the grounds of the sports events in Cleveland and Akron.

AAAA is looking for photographers to apply to be "in-residence" for one to two days throughout GG9 events who are willing to set-up portrait studios on-site, take fine-art portrait photos and upload to web-sites creating an on-line exhibition in real-time.

The photographers selected will receive a $1,000 stipend and must be willing to spend time planning in July prior to the event in August. Photographers must be willing to use their own equipment and release rights to GG9CLE and Summit Artspace to publish the photos online. AAAA expects that once photographers are selected to participate in this project, they will be able to select the event or events they would like to cover during the games.

To apply, send a resume, artist's statement and 10 portrait images under 150 dpi by May 24th to skreisman@akronareaarts.org.
