The Final Exam of this year's Tri-C High School Rock Off, which was scheduled for Feb. 1, included Never Surrender, with members from Field, St. Ignatius, Walsh Jesuit and St. Michael; Toxic Lemons, with members from Aurora and Chagrin Falls; and The Visitors, with members from Nordonia Hills.
The Rock Off scheduled to take place in the House of Blues in Cleveland.
Prize money was compliments of the local School of Rock franchise. The winning band received $1,000 cash and $250 for their respective high school music program. Second place received $200 cash and $150 for their respective high school music program, and third place received $100 cash.
The winning band also received a $1,000 gift card courtesy of the Ohio Music Shop to use toward the purchase of any Woody James product. the opportunity to open up for a Live Nation or House of Blues Concert and an appearance on Tri-C's cable television program Crooked River Groove and Perform a 45-minute concert in front of a studio audience while being professionally videotaped and recorded. In addition, the band will be featured on the three-time Emmy Award-winning program Words & Music, with an interview and unplugged performance.
Each of the 18 finalist bands also received a $25 gift card courtesy of the Ohio Music Shop to use toward the purchase of any Woody James product.
