Students from Auorra are among more than 180 whose exceptional academic work was showcased during Baldwin Wallace University's Ovation Festival 2017. The following local students presented their work:
Kyle Messner presented a poster titled "Slavic Village: What's the Matter?"
Olivia Pollack , an international studies and public health major, gave oral presentations titled "The Influence of the Cold War on Relations between the United States and Cuba" and "Translating Foster Care Children's Letters for COARPM (Community of Oscar Arnulfo Romero Peace Mission)."
Zachary Sluzala, a neuroscience psychology and psychology, presented a poster titled "Initial Assessment of Estrogen's Role in Sex Differences Seen in Psychophysical Sucrose Taste Detection."
Now in its 10th year, Ovation is a 10-day festival that recognizes student success in research and scholarship, the arts, experiential learning and leadership, and athletics. The signature event is the Day of Excellence.
To participate in the Day of Excellence, students must complete the submission process, and have a faculty mentor who sponsors their work and gives final approval to present.

Jordan Horst, an entrepreneurship major at Grove City College, has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2017 semester. He is a 2014 graduate of Aurora High and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald (Merla) Horst. Students eligible for the dean's list have amust have a grade-point average of 3.40 to 3.59.

A handful of Aurorans have been named to the spring 2017 dean's list at Ashland University.
Included are: Elizabeth Polasky, a nursing major and daughter of Thomas and Heather Polasky; Joshua Hauman , an economics major and son of Michael and Barbra Hauman; Justin Kowalski, a biology major; and Justin Wazbinski, a marketing and supply chain management major and son of Robert and Leslie Wazbinski.
To be eligible for this honor, a student must be enrolled full time and achieve at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

Miles Milner is one of 606 seniors to earn their degree from Grove City College on May 20. The Aurora resident earned a bachelor of science degree in international business.

Hannah K. Swan, daughter of Lisa and William Swan of Aurora, has been named to the dean's list at Hamilton College for the 2017 spring semester. A 3.5 or higher grade-point average is needed for the list. Swan, a junior majoring in biology and mathematics, is a graduate of Aurora High School.

Vishnu Bhola of Aurora has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2017 semester at Youngstown State University. Bhola is a combined science major. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned at least a 3.4 grade-point average for not less than 12 semester hours are eligible for the list.
