The following students from Aurora were among 1,230 students at the University of Akron who received degrees at the end of the fall 2016 semester: Scott Black, master of science in statistics; Jarret Burris and Amir Hawkins, bachelor of science in organizational supervision; Jacob Meyer, bachelor of science in nursing; and Matthew Rausch, bachelor of science in computer IS-networking.

Gabriella Yonkers of Aurora, a freshman communication studies major at Grove City College in Pennsylvania, has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2016 semester. She is a 2016 graduate of Aurora High and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark (Gay) Yonkers. A grade-point average of between 3.4 and 3.59 is needed for the dean's list.

Josh Hauman of Aurora is a member of the men's club soccer team at Ashland University. He is majoring in economics, is the son of Michael and Barbra Hauman and a 2013 graduate of Aurora High.

Brian Murphy of Aurora has graduated from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea with a master of business administration in management degree.

Capital University has announced that Benedict DiFranco of Reminderville was named to the president's list for the fall 2016 semester. The president's list requires a grade-point average of at least 3.85. Also at Capital, Vasia Williams of Aurora was named to the provost's list for achieving at least a 3.7 grade-point average and Jaclyn Raymer of Aurora was nam-ed to the dean's list for at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

Aurora resident Cody Schellhammer received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering after the fall 2016 semester at Ohio State University. The wrong degree was listed in a "College Notes" list of OSU graduates published in the Advocate's Feb. 15 edition.

Sean Cullen of Aurora was among more than 3,000 students from Miami University who received degrees during fall 2016 commencement exercises in Millett Hall. He graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in engineering, majoring in mechanical engineering.

Austin McNair of Aurora has earned a bachelor of science in chemical and biomolecular engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. He was among about 3,200 undergraduate and graduate students who received degrees during Georgia Tech's 252nd commencement exercises on Dec. 16-17, 2016, at the McCamish Pavilion.

Kendall Hughes of Aurora (class of 2017) was named to the dean's list at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., during the fall semester of the 2016-17 academic year. A student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean's list recognition.
