2 going to Girls State

Seniors-to-be at Aurora High School Ally Burns and Madison Allen will be among 900 girls participating the 68th annual session of Buckeye Girls State at the University of Mount Union in Alliance. The session runs from June 15 to 21.

The pair are sponsored by Clare Eggleston Unit 803 American Legion Auxiliary. The program gives participants an opportunity to actively participate in the democratic form of government. Gov. John Kasich will be one of the special guests.

The Legion Auxiliary unit meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the library gallery. For more information, write to the unit at Box 803, Aurora 44202.

Students bid farewell

The "Farewell to Harmon" show is May 30 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. A talented group of eighth-graders will perform. Those in the show will practice today (May 28) and May 29 after school at the high school.

Harmon students are reminded to check for lost items in the commons such as sweatshirts, hoodies, sweats, tennis shoes, lunchboxes and the like. All leftover items not claimed will be donated to the Volunteers of America.

NHS collecting items

Through the end of this week, Auroa High School's National Honor Society is collecting wish list items to donate to Camp Sunshine of Aurora. Students who donate items off the list will be entered in a gift card raffle. Items can be dropped off at lunch at a table in the commons. Support is appreciated.
