According to AHS Principal Mike Roberto, guidance counselors will meet with students in the coming weeks. to discuss the scheduling process and course selections for 2014-15. The program of studies is posted online on the high school web page for students' perusing.
Students are participating in a group orientation session with counselors, then teachers will meet with each student to recommend an appropriate course. Parents are urged to discuss recommendations with their children.
Each student will have an individual conference with a counselor to confirm the schedule, and students then will turn in a completed course request form signed by their parents.
The school also will begin the Outstanding Greenmen selection process in February. It identifies the 12 top seniors' outstanding achievements and contributions based on character, leadership, service/work and academics.
AHS spring parent-teacher conferences will be Feb. 26 and March 6. Ten-minute scheduled appointments will run from 7:20 to 8:30 p.m. Conferences allow parents to discuss their children's academic progress with teachers.

The AHS Spanish department is planning a 2015 spring break trip to Costa Rica. Students must be enrolled in Level 4 Spanish or above for the 2014-15 school year. If interested, email Melissa Foster at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A college planning and transition session for students with disabilities will be Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in the AHS auditorium.
Presenters are Megan Halko, AHS interventionist; Brendan Gallagher, Lake Erie College student teacher; and April Nenadal and Chris Miley, AHS counselors.
The college representative panel will consist of Dr. Amy Quillen of Kent State, Gina McGranadan of Youngstown State, Mary Ritzert of Muskingum and Ben Morrison of Kent State-Geauga.
Topics include differences between high school and college services, how to access support services, documentation needed, eligibility for and accessing accommodations on the ACT and SAT and a timeline for college applications.
