NEOEA Day cancels classes
There will be no classes for students in all of Aurora’s schools on Oct. 18 and some teachers will attend Northeast Ohio Education Association day activities.
‘Good’ students recognized
Caught being good at Leighton School recerntly are: Connor Tonsing , third grade; Grace Williamson, fourth grade; and Robbie Sagaris, fifth grade.
Leighton School will have its annual fall festival on Oct. 25, while the fall fifth-grade band concert will be Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. in the AHS auditorium.
Teachers to visit with parents
Aurora High parent-teachers conference will be Nov. 6 and 12, with scheduled appointments from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and drop-ins from 8 to 8:30. To schedule, visit www.aurora-schools.org.
AHS orchestra to play
Aurora High School orchestra students will perform in concert on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
Athletes gather today
Aurora High students interested in swimming or diving this winter should meet tonight (Oct. 16) at 7 in the cafeteria senior room. Also today, those interested in playing baseball in the spring who are not involved in a fall sport will meet at 2:45 p.m. in the auxiliary gym.
A note to AHS seniors
Aurora High School seniors are reminded to check their emails for notifications and updates from Naviance. They should be aware when they have registered for visits by college representatives.
There have been several instances where students have signed up to attend and did not show up. College representatives sometimes travel very long distances to visit AHS. If unable to attend, students can cancel via their Naviance account. See a guidance counselor for answers to questions about college visits.
Coin wars is back at Harmon School. This week during lunch, students are asked to bring in money to buy books for needy youngsters. There will be competitions between boys and girls and students and staffers.
The following students are qualified for the seventh grade Power of the Pen team: Rose Vachon, Michelle Guan, Colin Weil, Rachel Ryabogin, Sidney Hilston, Katie Cochran, Keshore Gowrishankar and Daphney Miller.

Play meeting slated
A pre-audition meeting for this year’s Harmon School musical will be Oct. 22 at 2:45 p.m. in the school’s band room. Topics to be discussed are show possibilities, audition tips and the audition sign up procedure. The meeting should last about 30 minutes.
