As of Oct. 2, the elementary schools had the following number of participants in the Heinen's ABC program, which earns money for the schools: Leighton 46, Craddock 40 and Miller 24. The schools received more than $2,100 last year.
The schools receive 1 percent of total eligible sales from September to April when a Heinen's customer designates a school with their Heinen's card. Sign up under "my profile" at www.heinensrewards.com or stop at the store's service counter.
Parents are reminded that when writing notes to teachers or the office staff, use a full sheet of paper since small sizes can get lost in backpacks. Parents also should tell their child about the note so it gets to the teacher.
A reminder that Robert Schuppel will speak on "Anxiety in Children: Signs and Strategies to Help" at tonight's (Oct. 9) elementary school parents communication forum at 6:30 at Leighton.
Preschool community peer applications and information is available for the 2014-15 school year in Miller School's office or online at www.aurora-schools.org. They must be returned to Miller by Oct. 31.
Second-graders recently visited Century Village in Burton to learn how people lived many decades ago.
Thanks go to the following: parents and staffers who attended the math and literacy information night, parents who helped with Miller and Craddock picture days and Natalia Hanson for taking photos at the PTO ice cream social.
