FROM STAFF REPORTS
Aurora -- The Aurora High School Alumni Association is seeking nominations for its Hall of Fame.
The alumni association, in cooperation with the Aurora schools' administration, periodically inducts Aurora alumni into the Hall of Fame, and the association is accepting nominations through Sept. 22 for one or multiple athletes, one or multiple distinguished alumni and one or multiple staff members or former teachers.
People can submit nominations by visiting www.auroraohioalumni.com. Nominations can be submitted online or people can download a form and mail it to Aurora High School Alumni Association, Box 688, Aurora 44202.
At this fall's Homecoming football game Oct. 11 against Wickliffe, the association will have an alumni tent set up. Alumni can stop by for a piece of cake, and they will be eligible for a raffle. "It's a good place for alumni to come and hang out during the game," said association president Matt Shanholtzer of the Class of 1990.
Meanwhile, Shanholtzer reports the association's website is up and running. Alumni can visit and look at pictures, some past high school memories and the "class notes" section, where alumni post what they're doing now, where they live, photos and memories.
Alumni can update their vital information, address and email address, so the association can contact them if there are special events such as Homecoming and class reunions.
During Homecoming weekend this year, the following classes have planned reunions: Class of 1963 50th, class of 1983 30th and class of 1988 25th.
In the past year, Shanholtzer said 150 alumni have updated their information on the website. Just in the past two months, 25 people have become members of the association.
This year, the association awarded three scholarships to a son, daughter or grandchild of AHS alumni. The $500 scholarships went to Nick Groth, Kathryn McClure and Alexa Clossin, who graduated in June 2013.
