Miller School observing Right to Read Week

Published:

The following information is reprinted from the News from Miller and Craddock Schools newsletter.

Theme of this week's Right to Read Week at Miller School is "Miller School, Miller School, What do you Read?" The author focus is on Bill Martin Jr.

Each child will get a special book from the PTO as a gift, and Miller is promoting reading through various fun activities during the week.

Students were supposed to wear a shirt that has letters on March 18 and a shirt with numbers on March 19. Today (March 20) is wear your pajamas day. "Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?" or "Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What do You See?" are the books to be read today.

Bedtime stories will be read from 7 to 7:30 p.m. in Miller's gymnasium.

On March 21, students should wear a shirt with an animal and on March 22 the school will celebrate being a Green man when students should wear Greenmen gear.

The Right to Read Week committee is composed of Lauren Barker, Melissa Buettin, Jaime Hood, Megan Janzig, Barb Kudley and Eric VanRepenbusch.

Craddock School's book fair was a big success. It was coordinated by Seema Anwar, Nicohol Kacmar, Nikki Thieding and Kim Gallucci. Books purchased during the fair but on back order are being distributed this week. Funds raised are used to purchase new books and materials for the library and classrooms.

Parents can help local schools raise money through Heinen's ABC Schools and Giant Eagle Apples for the Students programs. Visit www.heinensrewards.com or www.gianteagle.com for details.

Parents who could not register their children last week for kindergarten next year can stop by Miller's office from 9:30 a.m. to noon or 2 to 3 p.m.. to register. For details, call 330-562-6199.

Caught being good at Miller are: Jenna Zuelch, Riley Lane, Joshua Kramer, Nathan McGinn, Chloe Hersey, Reese Palmer, Mia Hunziker, Nathan Romanov, Diego Garcia, Annah Harmon, Wilson Brainard, Cole Walton, Abby Westendorf.
