The following items are reprinted from the January edition of the Aurora High School Communicator newsletter.
Financial aid night for Aurora High School students planning to head off to college will be Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
Ann Marie Gruber, assistant director of financial aid at Lakeland Community College, will discuss financial aid forms, grants and loans and scholarship searches.
An educational option night featuring information about advanced placement, international baccalaureate and PSEO will be Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. and a college planning night for students with disabilities will be Jan. 24 at 7 p.m., both in the auditorium.
There will be no parents communication forum in January.
AHS exams are coming up Jan. 15-17. An open campus scheduled will be followed. Students do not have to report to their study halls or stay in school during lunch periods.
Students who remain in the building must report to their assigned study hall, and those who remain during non-exam times must report to the library.
All students must remain at the exam site until the period ends, and students who arrive late must make up the exam on Jan. 17 beginning at 12:50 p.m. Exams count 20 percent toward the semester average.
Some other coming events are: Jan. 9 -- PTO Market Day pickup from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and All-Sports Boosters at 7 p.m.; Jan. 10 -- signup deadline for high school solo and ensemble contest; Jan. 15 -- Elementary PTO general meeting Jan. 18 -- teacher record day; Jan. 19-21 -- sophomores on Chicago trip.
Jan. 23 -- Harmon-AHS PTO committee chairmen meet at 9:30 a.m.; Jan. 24 -- AHS senior panoramic and group pictures; Jan. 25 ΒΈ-- report cards issued; Jan. 26 -- SAT given; Jan. 28 -- Board of Education meeting at 7 p.m.; Jan. 31 -- Excel TECC opportunity day.
