Auction is June 10

Aurora Mennonite Church's 35th annual missions auction will be June 10, with setup slated for June 8. The food booth part of the auction is in need of some food donations such as chopped tomatoes, heads of lettuce, ranch dressing, etc. If you can help out, see Susan.

The Lancaster Mennonite Children's Choir will sing at the Church in Aurora on June 15 at 7 p.m. , and the senior fellowship will travel to Sugarcreek on June 20 to see a play. There is a flier on the Aurora Mennonite bulletin board focusing on the upcoming choir appearance.

Other activities coming up at the church are: Tonight (June 7) -- youth group at 6:30 p.m.; June 8 -- Mennonite Women's Sewing Organization at 9:30 a.m.; and June 13 -- church board meeting at 7 p.m.

Youth party is set

A youth ministry summer party will be June 11 at 11:30 a.m. with fun, games and food planned. Diocesan youth day at Cedar Point will be June 20. Discounted tickets are available. Contact Cody Topp for information.

Vacation Bible camp runs June 12-16 from 9 a.m. to noon. Setup will be June 10 at 10 a.m. and June 11 at 11 a.m. Children's Liturgy of the Word needs catechists. For information, contact Mac Clapp.

A diocesan child protection in-service event will be tonight (June 7) at 6:30 at Our Lady. Servants 4 Christ is planning a retreat for teens from June 26 at 6 p.m. to June 29 at 7 p.m. at St. Rita in Solon. Registration is due by June 12.

Karen Yash will lead a class focusing on how people in church history have cooperated with God's grace to bring about healings, miracles, wisdom and understanding. Sessions will be Wednesdays from June 21 to July 19 at either 1 to 3 p.m. or 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. There is a $10 fee.

Recent new members are Anthony and Lauren Brancazio, Ken and Mary Jo Conti and family, Jim and Mary Jo Hohman, Gregory and Janet Hostelley, Richard and Deborah Jones, Patricia Koepplinger and Jaclyn Schulte and Jack.

A parish Feast Day celebration will be June 25 at 10:30 a.m. in honor of Sister Lu Haidnick's 20th anniversary of ministry at OLPH. Volunteers can sign up on sheets available after Masses. There will be an outdoor Mass and spaghetti dinner.

Other coming events are a charity and justice meeting June 8 at 7 p.m. and choir practice at 7:30. The church office is closed on Fridays during the summer.

 

New study begins

Hope Lutheran Church's Women's Every Other Week Bible Study will begin a study of the "Screw TApe Letters" by C.S. Lewis on June 10 at 10 a.m. in the fellowship hall. There are six lectures online by Dr. Jerry Root.

The Monday night men's Bible study is taking a break until after Labor Day. There will be no Sunday school classes in July.

Hope members and friends will work at Redeemer Crisis Center's staywell health screenings on June 16. It is a Thrivent-sponsored event. Contact Becky Bell if you are willing to help. Hot lunches will be provided and served by Hope members on July 27 at Redeemer.

New carpet will be installed June 22-23 in the pastor's office, back Sunday school room and altar area of the sanctuary. Becky's Book Club will meet June 20 at 7 p.m. at Lori's house to discuss "News of the World" by Paulette Jiles.

 

 

Luncheon coming

An all-church luncheon is planned June 11 at noon at Cornerstone Church of Aurora. Families are welcome. The event will follow the kickoff of the "Stories of Jesus" sermon series at the 10:30 a.m. service.

Club 306's campout is June 15-16 for youths in grades 3 to 6. Participants should meet at the church at 6 p.m. June 15. Cost is $5 per child. One male sponsor and one female sponsor are needed.

Vacation Bible school will run June 26-30 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. It is for all children ages 3 to 8 (must be potty trained). Registration forms are in the welcome center.

 

Rummage sale set

The community is invited to drop in and shop for bargains at the annual rummage sale at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. It begins June 22 from noon to 4:30 p.m. and continues June 23 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and June 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds support the high school youth group for the 2018 National Youth Gathering in Houston.

Every three years Lord of Life takes their youth to the National Youth Gathering, where they are surrounded by more than 35,000 other Lutheran youths.

Sale, VBS at AUM

Aurora United Methodist Church's annual rummage sale will be June 17 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Items to donate must be delivered to the church June 12-16 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Vacation Bible school will take place July 10-14 with the theme "Hero Central." Hours will be 5:45 to 8 p.m. Families can sign up at www.2017.cokesburyvbs.com/AuroraUMC
