L of L communion eyed
On April 9, a group of fifth-graders at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bainbridge will experience Holy Communion for the first time.
In the Lutheran church, there are two sacraments: Baptism and Holy Communion. Baptism generally occurs as an infant. Children, however, do not receive Holy Communion until they are of an age where they can understand the act and its significance.
"First Communion is an opportunity for children to begin to move beyond the basic stories of the Bible and make their faith real and tangible in their lives," said the Rev. Robert Henderson, senior pastor at Lord of Life. "It is the first in a series of rites of passage as they grow from children into adult members of the body of Christ."
Lord of Life is located at 17989 Chillicothe Road (Route 306) in Bainbridge Township, just south of Route 422. For further information on First Communion or any Lord of Life ministries, call 440-543-5505 or visit www. LOLOH.org.
