3-H group will gather

The 3-H Evening Group at the Church in Aurora will meet Oct. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Escape to review Chapters 5-8 of "Where I Am" by Billy Graham. For further details, call Kathleen Horak at 330-562-1930.

The Nutcracker Sweets is coming up Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Signup sheets for volunteers are in the Great Hall.

Anyone interested in purchasing any of the cardboard cars used for Promiseland Drive-in should call Liz Sutter at 330-562-8266 ext. 224.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Congregation members can send a card to the church's pastors, call them, promise a prayer or invite them to lunch during the month. They will be thanked at the coffee hour on Nov. 13.

The VOA food pantry needs paper towels, toilet paper, tissues and bar, hand and laundry soap this month.

Sermon series to start

A new sermon series titled "Jesus is Greater Than Everything" will kick off Oct. 16 at First Baptist Church of Aurora and will cover Apostle Paul's New Testament letter to the Colossians.

The next Club 306 meeting for third- to sixth-graders will be Oct. 21 for bowling at 5 p.m. at Skylanes in Garrettsville. Cost for bowling, shoes, pizza and pop is $5 per person.

The parenting Bible study led by Pastor Drew Carroll will begin Oct. 23. It is a video-based study by Chip Ingram and will meet Sundays at 6 p.m.

The church's fall festival will be Oct. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. Help is needed with food and games. Candy can be donated in the box in the foyer.

The Scholastic Book Fair Oct. 24-28 will support My First School preschool.

Book to be discussed

Hope Lutheran Church's Becky's Book Club will meet Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. at Carol's house to discuss "The Ladies Auxiliary" by Tova Mervis.

The Every Other Saturday women's Bible study will gather Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. to discuss chapter 10 "The Sinful Woman" in the fellowship hall. Coffee will be available. Men's Bible study meets Mondays at 6:30 p.m. in the church.

Women of Hope will eat lunch Oct. 29 at Crave Restaurant in Akron and then shop at Don Drumm Studios. Participants will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the church for car pooling.

Women of Hope also will join women of Our Redeemer Lutheran and perhaps other church to make lap blankets for veterans Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be served at no charge. Blankets will be presented to Solon VFW on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.

Hope members can sample and order Christmas cookies after worship Nov. 13. The cookies will be delivered in December. The Women of Hope fundraiser benefits Project Promise personal care kits.

The annual Thanksgiving pack and dinner event will be Nov. 22 at 5 p.m. in the church. Members can sign up to provide a turkey and pumpkin pie and/or canned green beans, sweet potatoes, packaged gravy or cranberry sauce.

Hope Nursery School will provide canned corn. For details, contact David or Becky Bell. The event is a Thrivent action grant project.

New servers selected

New altar servers at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church are: Frank and Jack Berendt, Julia-Marie Cooch, Kevin Hakes, Luciana Availa, Peyton Duguay, Lara Rodriguez and Jonathan Scarsella.

The Knights of Columbus will host a pancake breakfast after the Oct. 16 Masses. Recently baptized at the church was Daisy Rose Pawlowski, daughter of Ian and Jackie.

Our Lady's Paints in Love fun color run for charity will be Oct. 15 at 9 a.m. at Sunny Lake Park.

An adult education class titled "The Books of Wisdom" of the Old Testament will run Tuesdays at 12:45 p.m. from Oct. 25 to Nov. 22. Contact the office or Mac Clapp for details.

Other coming events are: Oct. 12 -- First Reconciliation parent meeting session 2 at 7 p.m.; Oct. 13 -- Spirited Seniors at noon and charity and justice meeting, choir practice and Boy Scouts at 7 p.m.; Oct. 15-16 -- Grateful Living-Joyful Giving weekend with equal exchange sale; Oct. 16 -- CLOW at 11 a.m. and high school ministry at 6:30 p.m.

Fall Fest at Lutheran

Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bainbridge invites the community to its Pumpkin Patch for an afternoon of festive family fun at the annual Fall Fest.

The event will take place Oct. 23 from 3 to 5 p.m. In addition to the Pumpkin Patch and pumpkin games, there will be trunk-or-treat, crafts and snacks.

CCC offers activities

Baby dedication for parents who completed the Oct. 9 preparation session will be Oct. 16 at 9:30 a.m. at Christ Community Chapel.

The next breakout session for third- to fifth-graders will be Oct. 14 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. There will be food, games and fun.

Fall Fusion middle school retreat will be Oct. 15-16 at Skyview Ranch.

Women's night out will be Oct. 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. and a Porchfest (high school overnight retreat) will be Oct. 29-30 at Skyview Ranch.

New Life groups meet

The Jackson and Willaford life groups meet Wednesdays and the Blakkolb group meets Thursdays, all at 7 p.m., at New Life Assembly. The volunteer appreciation dinner will be Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
