Rummage sale starts
The Church in Aurora's fall rummage sale is going on today (Oct. 5) and Oct. 6.
Anyone interested in purchasing any of the cardboard cars used for Promiseland Drive-in, call Liz Sutter at 330-562-8266 ext. 224.
Signup sheets are in the Great Hall for Nutcracker Sweets volunteers. Sports are still open for the gate, hostessing, youth assistants, teardown and Saturday cleanup. The event is Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The fall potluck luncheons start Oct. 9 at noon in fellowship hall, when the second annual baked potato bar is held. Participants should take a dish to share, and all are welcome.
October is Pastor Appreciation Month. All greetings of appreciation are welcome by the church's pastors. The congregation will thank them during coffee hour Nov. 13.
The Volunteers of America food pantry needs paper towels, toilet paper, issues and bar, hand and laundry soap.
CCC meat fry planned
A men's meat fry is coming up Oct. 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. for men from Christ Community Chapel. It will be at the Stutzmans' barn in Twinsburg. Guest speaker will be Craig Fry from Christian Leadership Concepts. Cornhole will be played.
Breakout for third- to fifth-graders will be Oct. 14 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the church, with food, games and fun.
Baby dedication will be Oct. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Parents of babies dedicated must attend a preparation class Oct. 9 at 10:30 a.m.
Other activities coming up are the membership class Oct. 9 from 11 a.m. to noon, women's night out on Oct. 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. and an American Red Cross blood drive Nov. 15 from 2 to 7 p.m.
Giving campaign set
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church is kicking off its Grateful Living -- Joyful Giving campaign. The parishioner witness talk and in-pew commitment weekend is Oct. 15-16, and the Knights of Columbus will host a pancake and sausage breakfast after Masses.
All families completing a commitment card will be entered in a monthly drawing from January to June 2017 to have "dessert with Daprile at the rectory.
High school youths will walk around Cuyahoga Valley National Park on Oct. 9 after the 11 a.m. Mass. Lunch will be served before they leave, and they will return about 4:30 p.m.
Sessions I and II of meetings for parents whose children will celebrate First Sacraments will be tonight (Oct. 5) and Oct. 12 at 7 in the parish hall.
Dinner and Doctrine sponsored by the Portage County Catholic Pastoral Ministers Association will be Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. at the Overlook golf course in Twin Lakes. Miguel Chavez of Walsh University will speak on "Welcoming the Stranger: The Immigrant Church of the 21st Century." Reservations are required by Oct. 12. Seniors to visit Atrium
The senior fellowship at Aurora Mennonite Church will have a tour and lunch at the Atrium at Anna Maria on Oct. 7 at 10:30 a.m. Those who wish to have lunch should let Susan know so she can make reservations.
The small group Bible study resumes Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Schwartzes home.
Open Arms Hispanic Ministry is sponsoring an evening of "Songs and Salsa" at the old church in Sonnenberg Village near KIdron on Oct. 9. Music will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Fall Fest at Lutheran
Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bainbridge invites the community to its Pumpkin Patch for an afternoon of festive family fun at the annual Fall Fest.
The event will take place Oct. 22 from 3 to 5 p.m. In addition to the Pumpkin Patch and pumpkin games, there will be trunk-or-treat, crafts and snacks.
All ages are encouraged to come in costume. From a 2015 festival attendee: "My family really enjoyed a beautiful fall afternoon watching our girls trunk-or-treat and participate in all the fun activities."
The proceeds from the Pumpkin Patch will go to the church's youth as they prepare for the ELCA National Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas.
