AMC gets new carpet

Aurora Mennonite Church recently got new carpet installed in the fellowship hall thanks to Gene Lotts, Sylvester Mayes, Dan Ringholz, Roger Troyer, Ethan Troyer and Verda Troy.

Senior fellowship will meet at 9 a.m. at the church to go to Rocky River for a tour of the Button Lady's House. Participants should take a sack lunch, with drinks provided.

Nominations for church elders will be taken Aug. 28. Other coming events are: Sept. 7 -- senior fellowship to Mennonite Central Committee; and Sept. 11 -- worship and baptism service in pavilion outside with lunch afterward.

CCC activities slated

Events coming up at Christ Community Chapel in Aurora are: Aug. 27 -- Feed My Starving Children mobile pack day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Aug. 28 -- adoption / foster care support group seminar at 6:30 p.m. at the Hudson campus; Sept. 7 -- Wednesday nights kickoff at 6:30 p.m.; Sept. 9 -- Rachel Berrentine concert at 7 p.m.; Sept. 10 -- women's conference from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Discussions at L of L

People often long to find practical applications for their faith lives. The Wired Word at Lord of Life Lutheran Church is a study resource that pairs a current event with scripture and discussion questions.

The Wired Word discussion will take place each Sunday starting Sept. 11 at 9:30 a.m.

Participants receive a short article that briefly provides context for the conversation for those who want to prepare, but reading before the discussion is not necessary.

Topics will include issues faced each day. Discussions are led by the Rev. Richard Seaks, Lord of Life's interim associate pastor.

Hope activities slated

Activities coming up at Hope Community Church in Hudson are:

Aug. 25 -- band practice at 6:30 p.m.; Aug. 26 -- Celebrate Recovery at 7 p.m.; Aug. 27 -- men's Bible study at 7:30 a.m.; Aug. 28 -- adult class and student ministry at 9:30 a.m., worship at 9:30 and 11 a.m. and prayer meeting at 5:40 p.m.; Aug. 31 -- student ministries at 6:15 p.m. and AWANA kids club at 6:30.

Picnic slated Sept. 4

The Church in Aurora will have an outdoor service Sept. 4 at 10 a.m. followed by a picnic. The regular two-service Sunday schedule returns Sept. 11.

The Women's Guild will meet Sept. 14 at 11:30 a.m. in fellowship hall, when some of the Nutcracker Sweets crafters will speak and show their items.

Circle 3H will meet Sept. 2 at 10 a.m. in fellowship hall to work on a craft project.

The youth group (grades 6 to 12) will kick off its season Sept. 11 with a cookout from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sutters'.

The Sunday adult class will kick off Sept. 11 at 9:30 a.m. in the Harris study, and Thursday adult Bible study will begin Sept. 15 at 9:30 a.m. in the church library for a study of the book of Acts.

The fall rummage sale will be Oct. 5-6. Express dropoff will be Sept. 17 and Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon, or folks can bring items to the stage in fellowship hall.

A parent-teen orientation for those ninth-graders participating in confirmation 2017 will be Sept. 11 at 9:30 a.m. with info about the class and the first field trip. For details, call the Rev. Kevin Horak at 330-562-8266 ext. 222.

Golf outing coming up

Our Lady of Perpetual Help's Knights of Columbus golf outing will be Sept. 9 at Fox Den in Stow. The K of C will sell golf outing Chinese raffle tickets after all Masses on Aug. 27-28 and Sept. 3-4.

PSR classes begin Sept. 11-13. Teachers are needed for first-graders on Tuesdays and fifth-graders on Mondays. Student helpers and snack setup and cleanup people also are needed on Mondays.

The Monday-Tuesday program runs from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m. For details, contact Nancy Flanik.

All parents with students in PSR should attend a meeting either Sept. at 7 p.m. or Sept. 11 at 12:30 p.m.

A diocesan child protection policy in-service opportunity will be Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Kent. To register, call 330-673-5849.
