Himmel sings at Hope

A barbecue and concert will be July 27 at Hope Lutheran Church featuring Christian artist Chris Himmel. The barbecue starts at 4 p.m., with Hope's Lynn Kanengeiser performing at 5:30 and Hummel performing at 6. A free-will offering will be taken. Memorial services set

A memorial service will be conducted for Susan Anderson, daughter of Bobbie Dennis, on July 19 at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Church in Bainbridge. There will be one for Bob Williams on Aug. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Church in Aurora.

Church in Aurora members are reminded that the Red Rock Farmers Market takes place in the summer on Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. behind the church. It features baked goods, fresh produce and health initiatives.

Rummage sale slated

Our Lady of Perpetual Help's youth ministry rummage sale will be July 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., July 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and July 19 from 9 a.m. to noon, with a bag sale on the final date. For details, call Marianne Ivany at 330-995-3885.

Fair trade/equal exchange sales of ground regular, decaf and flavored coffees will be July 27 and Aug. 10 and 24 after Masses in the narthex.

Eucharistic ministers are needed for the Reflections at Anna Maria ministry. Call Sister Lu Haidnick or email lhaidnick@olphaurora.org.

Children's liturgy of the word continues during the summer on Sundays during the 11 a.m. Mass. CLOW catechists are needed. Contact Mac Clapp at maclapp@olphaurora.org if interested.

A baptism preparation session will be Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. for expectant or new parents anticipating a baptism. Attendance is required before a date can be scheduled. Call the parish office to register.

Baptist luncheon set

First Baptist Church will have a luncheon July 20 after worship. A signup sheet is posted in the welcome center.

Signups continue for the summer sports camp July 30 to Aug. 3. It is for children ages 5 to 12 and cost is $15 each. See Pastor Drew Carroll or Jeff H. for information.

Volunteers are needed to referee, prepare the field, sell concessions and provide devotionals for Upward flag football and cheerleading. See the pastor or Jeff H. if interested.

First Focus prayer meetings continue Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., while "Rooted in Grace" continues on Sundays.

UCC Bible school set

"Wilderness Escape" is the theme of Bainbridge Community United Church of Christ's vacation Bible school from July 28 to Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon daily.

Cost is $15 per child for anyone who registers by July 23 and $20 for anyone who registers later or at the door. A final showcase will take place Aug. 3 at 10:30 a.m.

Baptisms set July 27

Baptisms will be during services July 27 at Christ Community Chapel. A pre-baptism class will be July 20 at 11 a.m.

Toothbrushes and toothpaste are two critical needs for Community Harvest this month. Also needed are shampoo, body soap, razors, hand soap and dish soap. The next collection is July 20.

A golf outing is planned Aug. 4 at Westfield Group Country Club to raise funds for Rahab Ministries, Restoration Chapel and TRY Ministries. A shotgun start is at noon, and Tom Randall will be guest speaker at dinner.

Summer Evening on the Lawn will feature live music, an ice cream sundae bar, inflatables and games. It will be Aug. 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hudson campus.

100% attendance eyed

Aurora United Methodist Church hopes that 100 percent of its members attends church on July 27. In March, a similar event attracted 114 people. Attendees can dress casually. There will be a picnic afterward at Sunny Lake Park. The men's group will provide food and drinks. Members can take a dessert if they wish.

Other coming events are: July 16-18 -- vacation Bible school continues from 5:45 to 8 p.m.; July 20 -- UM Men's breakfast meeting at 8 a.m. and worship/junior church at 10:30; July 22 -- Praise Team rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.
