Water uses discussed

In conjunction with the upcoming year's parish theme, "Thirsting for God," Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Aurora's recent week of "Weird Animals" vacation Bible school put a special focus on water.

The children talked about the uses of water and the lack of it, especially the lack of clean water in many areas of the world.

In an outreach response, children were encouraged to do extra chores to earn money to help others. As they brought their change and dollars each day when they came to Bible School, they put their money in the "Wishing Clean Water for Others Well."

With each donation, the children then dipped a cup of water out of a bucket in an attempt to fill a water jug representing how we can help others who need water.

The money donated will be sent to the Catholic Relief Services to aid in their ongoing efforts to assist those around the world who are in need.

Bloodmobile will visit

A Red Cross bloodmobile will visit the Church in Aurora on July 14 from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Area residents are reminded that the Red Rock Farmers Market continues on Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. behind the church.
