One service will start
The Church in Aurora’s summer schedule will begin June 8, with one service at 10 a.m. on Sundays. Nursery care will be provided for small children and Promiseland Drive-in will take place for those 4 years old to fourth grade.
A commissioning service for work campers will be June 8 at 10 a.m., and the first group will leave for Cumberland, Md. on June 15.
Confirmation will take place June 1 at the 9:30 a.m. and senior recognition will be at 11. A free class titled “Medicine Cabinet Makeover” will be offered June 5 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
Participants in the Friday morning yoga class will meet May 30 at the Latest Scoop for yoga and yogurt. There will be no yoga classes in June, July and August.
The Habitat for Humanity ReStore truck will not visit the church this summer. Persons can take small items to 1510 S. Water St. in Kent, or call the ReStore at 330-677-8881 for pickup of large items.
The following volunteers helped out at the May 12 blood drive: Tim and Martha Wagner, Winnie Tucker, Margaret Wise, Flip Eavenson and Pat Scott.
The church’s Relay For Life team will have its annual bake sale June 1. Donations of baked goods are welcome. The only team meeting will be June 1 after the bake sale.
Next year’s study book for the 3H Evening Group focuses on relating to God and others through the Ten Commandments. It is available for $11. The first meeting will be Sept. 11.
Vacation Bible school will be June 9-13 and the theme is “Jungle Safari. Anyone willing to help during the week should contact Kim Belofsky at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The work camp recycling project has expanded its list of acceptable items, which now include inkjet and toner cartridges, cell phones, iPods/MP3 players, laptops, digital cameras and GPS devices. Kim Williamson heads the project.
VBS slated at Lutheran
Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bainbridge has scheduled vacation Bible school for June 16-20. The theme is “Weird Animals: Where Jesus’ Love Is One of a Kind.”
The all-new KidVid Cinema shares real stories of real kids who rely on Jesus’ love to face life’s challenges. Plus therew ill be team-building games, creative crafts, Bible songs,and tasty treats.
“It is our prayer that Christ’s love will come to life each day, drawing kids closer to Him. It will be a fantastic week full of learning and fun,” said Jen Keller, director of children’s ministry at Lord of Life.
The VBS is for age 3 (toilet trained) through fifth grade. Sessions run from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Registration forms can be picked up in the church office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by visiting the church’s website at www.loloh.org/summer-events.

Soccer camps slated
The deadline for youths at Christ Community Chapel in Aurora to register for the Ambassador Soccer Camps and receive the early bird discount is May 31. The camps will be July 8-12 and 15-19 for chiildfen ages 6 to 14 at the Hudson campus.
All men are invited to a free breakfast May 31 at 8 a.m. in the fellowship hall The next membership class will be JUne 1 from 5 to 7 p.m.

UM men meet June 3
Aurora United Methodist Church men’s fellowship breakfast will be June 3 at 7 p.m. at Bob Evans restaurant on Route 43. The praise team will rehease that evening at 7:30. TOPS meets Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and communion will be June 1, with Sunday school at 9:15 a.m. and worship at 10:30.
Class offered at OLPH
A class titled “Hearing the Call of the Mother Church” will feature Sir Jeffery M. Aboo. It will be tonight (May 28) at 7 and is sponsored by the Diocese of Youngstown.
The Book of Revelation will be studied June 4, 11, 18 and 25 and July 2, with Karen Yash as facilitator. There is no charge to take the class, which will meet in the parish center.
